Brake Caliper Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove the brake hose union bolt (1). Place a container beneath the brake hose in order to catch escaping brake fluid.
4. Disconnect the brake hose.
5. Remove the two caliper pin bolts (1).
6. Remove the caliper housing from caliper bracket.
7. Inspect the following components for corrosion and wear. Replace any part if necessary:
^ The mounting bolts
^ The caliper pins
^ The dust boots
8. Remove the brake pads, insulators, retainers, and the wear indicator from the caliper housing.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the brake pads, insulators, retainers, and the wear indicator to the caliper housing.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the caliper housing to the caliper bracket. Secure with two caliper pin bolts (1).
^ Tighten the caliper pin bolts to 34 Nm (25 lb ft).
3. Apply Lubriplate (R) Lubricant, GM P/N 12346293 or equivalent, or a lubricant meeting the requirements of NLGI #2 Category LB or GC-LB.
4. Install the brake hose union bolt (1).
^ Tighten brake hose union bolt to 30 Nm (22 lb ft).
5. Install the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle.
6. Lower the vehicle.
7. Fill the master cylinder fluid reservoir.
8. Bleed the brakes.
