Wiper Motor Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE





TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39232 Wiper Transmission Separator

1. Remove the wiper arms from the vehicle.
2. Remove the air inlet grille panel.
3. Remove the connectors from the wiper motor assembly.
3.1. Pull two retainers out of the two connectors.
3.2. Disconnect two connectors from the wiper motor assembly.
4. Remove three screws and the wiper drive system module from the vehicle.




5. Remove the wiper motor crank arm from the wiper transmission using the J 39232.




6. Remove the nut and the wiper motor crank arm from the wiper motor assembly.
7. Remove three screws, the bracket, and the wiper motor assembly from the tube frame.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





Tools Required
J 39529 Wiper Transmission installer

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

1. Install the wiper motor assembly and the bracket onto the tube frame with three screws.

Tighten
Tighten three screws to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

2. Install the wiper motor crank arm onto the wiper motor assembly with the nut.

Tighten
Tighten the nut to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).




3. Install the wiper motor crank arm on the wiper transmission with the J 39529.




4. Install the wiper drive system module onto the vehicle with three screws.

Tighten
Tighten three screws to 12 N.m (106 lb in).

5. Connect the two connectors to the wiper motor assembly.
6. Install two retainers in the connectors.
7. Install the air inlet grille panel.
8. Install the wiper arms onto the vehicle.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
^ Inspect the park position. Both wiper arms must be against the park ramps.
^ Inspect the wipe pattern. The dimension should be 55-132 mm (2.17-5.20 in) from the top of the driver's side wiper blade assembly on the outerwipe to the edge of the glass.
^ The correct park position and outerwipe dimension are determined with the wipers operating at low speed on wet glass.
