Wiper Arm Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURETOOLS REQUIRED:
J 39822 Wiper Arm Puller
1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACCY position.
2. Set the wiper switch to the PULSE position.
3. Turn the ignition switch off when the wiper arm is in the innerwipe position and not moving.
4. Disconnect the hose from the nozzle.
5. Remove the cover from the nut.
6. Remove the nut from the wiper arm assembly and the wiper transmission drive shaft.
7. Remove the wiper arm assembly from the wiper transmission drive shaft using the J39822.
8. Remove the wiper blade assembly from the wiper arm assembly.
8.1. Push in the button of the wiper blade assembly clip and remove the wiper blade assembly from the inside radius of the wiper arm assembly.
8.2. Bring the wiper arm assembly out through the opening in the wiper blade assembly.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
1. Install the wiper blade assembly onto the wiper arm assembly.
2. Return the wiper transmission assembly to the park position.
2.1. Turn the ignition to the ACCY position.
2.2. Turn the wiper/washer switch on and then off.
2.3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
3. Install the wiper arm assembly onto the wiper transmission drive shaft.
3.1. Position the wiper arm assembly slightly below the stop surface of the park ramp.
3.2. Push the wiper arm assembly down onto the wiper transmission drive shaft completely.
4. Install the nut onto the wiper transmission Drive shaft and the wiper arm assembly.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 23 N.m (17 lb ft)
5. Install the cover on the nut.
6. Lift the wiper arm assembly up onto the park ramp.
IMPORTANT: Lubricate the hose with windshield washer solvent to ease installation onto the nozzle.
7. Connect the hose onto the nozzle.
INSPECTION PROCEDURE
^ Inspect the park position. Both wiper arm assemblies must be snug against park ramps.
^ Inspect the wipe pattern. The dimension should be 5-132 mm (2.17-5.20 in) from the tip of the driver's side wiper blade assembly on the outerwipe to the edge of the glass.
^ The correct park position and outerwipe dimension are determined with the wipers operating at low speed on wet glass.
