Fuel Filler Hoses:

DRAINING PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Do not drain the fuel into an open container. Never store the fuel in an open container due to the possibility of a fire or an explosion.

NOTE: Do not drain fuel through the fuel tank filler pipe in order to prevent damage the fuel tank filler pipe check-ball.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe cap.
3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting in Service Precautions.
4. Remove the fuel tank filler pipe [1][2]EVAP pipe restraints.
5. Clean the fuel tank filler pipe [1][2]EVAP pipe connection and the surrounding area before disconnecting the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe in order to avoid possible contamination of the fuel system.
6. Loosen the fuel tank filler pipe [1][2]EVAP pipe hose clamp.
7. Wrap a shop towel around the fuel tank filler pipe [1][2]EVAP pipe and slowly remove the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe from the fuel tank EVAP pipe.
8. Use a hand operated fuel pump device in order to drain the fuel through the fuel tank [1][2]EVAP pipe.
9. Reconnect the fuel tank filler pipe [1][2]EVAP pipe and the fuel tank filler pipe EVAP pipe hose clamp.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Tighten the fuel tank filler pipe cap.
12. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
