Intermediate Shaft Replacement
Removal Procedure1. Remove the right wheel drive shaft assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shafts Replacement.
2. Remove the three bolts from the intermediate shaft bearing arbor (1).
3. Remove the intermediate shaft (2) from the transaxle.
4. Inspect the intermediate shaft (2) and the intermediate shaft bearing for rough operation, excessive wear or damage. For disassembly and inspection procedures, refer to Intermediate Shaft Overhaul.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
1. Install the intermediate shaft (2) into the transaxle. Secure with three bolts in the intermediate shaft bearing arbor.
Tighten the intermediate shaft bearing arbor bolts to 60 Nm (44 ft. lbs.).
2. Install the right wheel drive shaft assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shafts Replacement.
