Pilot Bearing: Service and Repair
Removal Procedure^ Tools Required
- J 34839 Pinion Bearing Remover
- J 37764 Pilot Bearing Remover Adapter
- J 23907 Clutch Pilot Bearing Remover
1. Remove the manual transaxle assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Transaxle Assembly Removal.
2. Remove the clutch pressure plate. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
3. Remove the clutch disc. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
4. Use J 34839, J 37764 and J 23907 in order to remove the clutch pilot bearing (1).
5. Inspect the clutch pilot bearing (1) for the following conditions:
^ Scoring
^ Binding
^ Damage
Installation Procedure
^ Tools Required
- J 36190 Drive Handle
- J 34848 Clutch Pilot Bearing Installer
1. Use J 34848 with J 36190 in order to install the clutch pilot bearing (1) into the crankshaft.
2. Install the clutch disc. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
3. Install the pressure plate. Refer to Clutch Assembly Replacement.
4. Install the manual transaxle assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Transaxle Assembly Installation.
