Steering Wheel

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 42120 Steering Wheel Puller Legs
- J 1859-A Steering Wheel Puller





1. Remove the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Infl Rst Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
2. Remove the horn electrical connector.
3. Remove the steering wheel set nut.
4. Discard the steering wheel set nut.
5. Install J 42120 and J 1859-A to the steering wheel.
6. Tighten the puller center screw against steering column shaft until the steering wheel slides off the steering column shaft.
7. Remove J 42120 and J 1859-A from the steering wheel.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the steering wheel to the steering column, observing the alignment marks (splines).
2. Install a new steering wheel set nut.

NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

- Tighten the new steering wheel set nut to 41 Nm (30 ft. lbs.).

3. Connect the horn electrical connector.
4. Install the steering wheel inflator module. Refer to Infl Rst Steering Wheel Module Replacement in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
5. Perform a SIR Diagnostic System Check. Refer to SIR Diagnostic System Check in Air Bags and Seat Belts.
