Trim Covers - Disassemble

DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
- J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin





1. Pull the tilt lever away from the lower shroud.
2. Place J 41352 into the vise.
3. Secure the steering column to J 41352.
4. Insert J 42640 into the bottom of the lower shroud.
5. Inspect the lower steering yoke assembly for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage - Off Vehicle (Telescoping).





6. Remove the steering column close-out shroud (1) from the steering column shrouds, if necessary. Otherwise take the steering column closeout shroud (1) off with the upper shroud.





7. Remove the 2 wire harness straps (1) from the steering column wire harness assembly.





8. Remove the 2 pan head tapping screws (2) from the lower shroud (1).





9. Perform the following steps to remove the lower shroud:
9.1. Tilt the lower shroud down.
9.2. Slide the lower shroud back to disengage from the upper shroud.





10. Remove the telescope switch assembly (2) from the lower shroud (1) if replacing.





11. Remove 1 TORX(R) head screw (2) from the upper shroud (1).
12. Remove the upper shroud (1).
