Steering Column Trim Covers - Disassemble

DISASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture
- J 42640 Steering Column Anti Rotation Pin





1. Pull on the tilt lever to remove from the lower shroud.
2. Insert J 42640 into the bottom of the lower shroud.
3. Place J 41352 into the vise.
4. Secure the steering column to J 41352.
5. Inspect the lower steering shaft assembly for accident damage. Refer to Steering Column Accident Damage - Off Vehicle (Non-Telescoping).





6. Remove the 2 TORX(R) head screws (1) from the lower shroud.





7. Perform the following steps to remove the lower shroud:
7.1. Tilt the lower shroud down.
7.2. Slide the lower shroud back to disengage from the upper shroud.





8. Remove the 2 TORX(R) head screws (2) from the upper shroud (1).
9. Remove the upper shroud (1).
