Power Steering Pump Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.
2. Place a drain pan under the vehicle.
3. Remove the Electronic Brake Control Module/Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (EBTCM/BPMV) (4) and bracket. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
4. Disconnect the power steering cooler hose from the reservoir.
5. Drain the power steering fluid.
6. Remove the power steering reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement.
7. Remove the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Accessory) in Engine.
8. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement.
9. Disconnect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) from the power steering pump (1).
10. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts.
11. Remove the power steering pump and bracket.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the power steering pump and bracket.
2. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
- Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
3. Connect the power steering gear inlet hose (2) to the power steering pump (1).
- Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose fitting to the steering pump to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pulley Replacement
5. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (Accessory) in Engine.
6. Install the Electronic Brake Control Module/Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (EBTCM/BPMV) and bracket. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
7. Install the power steering reservoir. Refer to Remote Power Steering fluid Reservoir Replacement.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
- Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
9. Program the Transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming/Synchronization in Keyless Entry.
10. Refill the power steering reservoir.
11. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Bleeding Power Steering System.
