REMOVAL PROCEDURETOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge
^ J 37088-A Tool Set Fuel Line Quick-Connect Separator
NOTE:
^ Do not repair the fuel feed or return pipes.
^ Replace the fuel feed and return pipes with original equipment or with parts that meet the GM specifications for those parts. The replacement pipe must have the same type of fittings as the original pipe in order to ensure the integrity of the connection.
CAUTION: Refer to the Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the left fuel rail cover.
3. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
4. Disconnect the fuel feed hose (2) from the chassis fuel feed pipe (3).
5. Disconnect the engine compartment [1][2]EVAP pipe (1) from the chassis EVAP pipe (2).
6. Disconnect the chassis fuel and [1][2]EVAP pipe retainer (1) from the upper front of dash mounting stud (3).
7. Raise the vehicle.
8. Remove the exhaust intermediate pipe.
9. Remove the driveline tunnel closeout panel.
10. Remove the fuel filter/pressure regulator bracket nut (2).
11. Disconnect the fuel system ground strap from the fuel filter/pressure regulator mounting stud.
12. Disconnect the chassis fuel feed pipe (3) from the fuel filter/pressure regulator.
13. Cap the open end of the fuel filter/pressure regulator (2).
14. Disconnect the rear [1][2]EVAP pipe (1) at the chassis EVAP pipe (3).
15. Cap the rear [1][2]EVAP pipe.
16. Remove the chassis [1][2]EVAP pipe (4) underbody retainer nuts (3).
17. Remove the chassis [1][2]EVAP pipe (4) from the underbody retainers (2).
18. Disconnect the chassis fuel pipe (5) and the [1][2]EVAP pipe (4) from the underbody retainers (6).
19. Remove the chassis fuel and [1][2]EVAP pipes.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT:
^ Follow the same routing as the original pipes.
^ Secure the pipes in order to prevent chafing.
^ Do not kink or bend the pipes.
1. Install the chassis fuel pipe (5) and the [1][2]EVAP pipe (4) into the underbody retainers (6).
2. Install the chassis [1][2]EVAP pipe (4) into the underbody retainers (2).
3. Install the underbody retainers (2) on the mounting studs (1).
NOTE: Refer to the Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
4. Install the chassis [1][2]EVAP pipe (4) underbody retainer nuts (3).
Tighten
Tighten the [1][2]EVAP pipe retainer nuts to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
5. Uncap the rear [1][2]EVAP pipe.
6. Connect the rear [1][2]EVAP pipe (1) to the chassis EVAP pipe (3).
7. Uncap the fuel filter/pressure regulator outlet.
8. Connect the chassis fuel feed pipe (3) to the fuel filter/pressure regulator (2).
9. Engage the anti-rotation tab (3) of the fuel filter/pressure regulator bracket (2) into the hole of the tunnel reinforcement (1).
10. Connect the fuel system ground strap to the fuel filter/pressure regulator mounting stud.
11. Install the fuel filter/pressure regulator bracket nut (2).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel filter/pressure regulator bracket nut to 4.5 N.m (40 lb in).
12. Install the driveline tunnel closeout panel.
13. Install the exhaust intermediate pipe.
14. Lower the vehicle.
15. Connect the chassis fuel and [1][2]EVAP pipe retainer (1) at the upper front of dash mounting stud (3).
Tighten
Tighten the fuel and [1][2]EVAP pipe retainer nut to 3 N.m (27 lb in).
16. Connect the engine compartment [1][2]EVAP pipe (1) to the chassis EVAP pipe (2).
17. Connect the fuel feed hose (2) to the chassis fuel feed pipe (3).
18. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
19. Connect the negative battery cable.
20. Inspect for leaks.
20.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
20.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
20.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
20.4. Check for fuel leaks.
21. Program the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming/Synchronization in Keyless Entry.
22. Perform the idle learn procedure. Refer to PCM Idle Learn Procedure.
