Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
^ J 34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge
^ J 37088-A Tool Set, Fuel Line Quick Connect Separator

CAUTION: Refer to The Battery Disconnect Caution in Cautions and Notices.




1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure.
3. Drain the fuel tanks.
4. Remove the right fuel tank.
5. Disconnect the vent hose from the EVAP canister.

6. Disconnect the fuel tanks to EVAP canister pipe (2) at the EVAP canister.
7. Disconnect the purge pipe (1) at the EVAP canister.

8. Remove the EVAP canister from the EVAP canister bracket.
9. Remove the EVAP canister from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

NOTE: Refer to the Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.

Description:




1. Install the new EVAP canister to the EVAP canister bracket.

Tighten
Tighten the EVAP canister bracket bolt to 7 N.m (62 lb in).

2. Connect the purge pipe (1) at the EVAP canister.
3. Connect the fuel tanks to EVAP canister pipe (2) at the EVAP canister.




4. Connect the vent hose to the EVAP canister.
5. Install the right fuel tank.
6. Refill the fuel system.
7. Install the fuel filler cap.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Inspect for leaks.
9.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
9.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
9.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
9.4. Check for fuel leaks.
10. Program the transmitters. Refer to Transmitter Programming/Synchronization in Keyless Entry.
11. Perform the idle learn procedure. Refer to PCM Idle Learn Procedure.
