Heater Hoses ReplacementREMOVAL PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 38185 Spring Hose Clamp Pliers
1. Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
2. Using the J 38185, release and reposition the heater outlet hose clamp away from the heater outlet pipe end.
3. Separate the heater hose from heater pipe.
4. Using the J 38185, release and reposition the heater outlet hose clamp away from the coolant surge tank inlet end.
5. Separate the heater outlet hose from surge tank inlet.
6. Remove the heater outlet hose from the vehicle.
7. Remove the retaining strap (1), which retains the heater inlet hose (2) to the evaporator tube - front.
8. Using the J 38185, release and reposition the heater inlet hose clamp away from the heater inlet pipe end.
9. Separate the heater hose from heater pipe.
10. Using the J 38185, release and reposition the heater inlet hose clamp away from the engine coolant pump end.
11. Separate the heater inlet hose from coolant pump end.
12. Remove the heater inlet hose from the vehicle
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 38185 Spring Hose Clamp Pliers
1. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the heater inlet and outlet pipe ends, the coolant surge tank inlet and the coolant pump end.
2. Position the heater inlet hose to the vehicle.
3. Install the heater inlet hose to the heater inlet pipe.
4. Using the J 38185, position the heater inlet hose clamp onto the heater inlet pipe end.
Orientate the heater hose clamp as shown.
5. Install the heater inlet hose to the engine coolant pump.
6. Using the J 38185, position the heater inlet hose clamp onto the engine coolant pump.
Orientate the heater hose clamp as shown.
7. Install a new retaining strap (1) to retain the heater inlet hose (2) to the evaporator tube - front.
Position the retaining strap as shown.
8. Install the heater outlet hose to the heater outlet pipe.
9. Using the J 38185, position the heater outlet hose clamp onto the heater outlet pipe end.
Orientate the heater hose clamp as shown.
10. Install the heater outlet hose to the coolant surge tank inlet.
11. Using the J 38185, position the heater inlet hose clamp onto the coolant surge tank inlet end.
Orientate the heater hose clamp as shown.
12. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System in Engine Cooling.
13. Inspect the heater hose ends for leaks.
