Valve Rocker Arm Cover Replacement (Left)

Removal Procedure

- Tools Required
- J34730-1A Fuel Pressure Gauge

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution In Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the left fuel rail cover.
3. Depressurize the fuel system using J34730-1A.





4. Disconnect the fuel line from the fuel rail.





5. Disconnect the generator and coolant temperature sensor electrical connectors.
6. Disconnect the secondary air injection (AIR) hose from the check valve.





7. Remove the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve pipe from the left hand valve rocker arm cover.





8. Remove the spark plug wires from the ignition coils.
9. Disconnect the ignition coil main wire harness electrical connector.





10. Disconnect the hoses from the Evaporative Emissions (EVAP) purge solenoid valve.
11. Remove the EVAP purge solenoid from the intake manifold.
12. Remove the valve rocker arm cover.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the valve rocker arm cover.





2. Install the EVAP purge solenoid to the bracket on the intake manifold.
3. Install the hoses to the EVAP purge solenoid valve.
4. Connect the AIR hose to the check valve.





5. Install the spark plug wires to the ignition coils.
6. Connect the ignition coil main wire harness electrical connector.





7. Connect the generator and coolant temperature sensor electrical connectors.





8. Connect the fuel line to the fuel rail.





9. Install the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve pipe to the left hand valve rocker arm cover.





10. Install the left fuel rail cover.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

11. Connect the negative battery cable.
- Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
12. Program the Transmitters.
