Master Cylinder Replacement
REMOVAL PROCEDURE1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake fluid level switch.
2. If the master cylinder is being removed, disconnect the brake pipes from the master cylinder.
3. Plug the brake pipes to prevent contamination from entering the system.
4. Remove the master cylinder nuts.
5. Remove the master cylinder from the brake booster.
6. Remove the master cylinder reservoir from the master cylinder if necessary.
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the reservoir to the master cylinder if necessary.
2. Bench bleed the master cylinder.
3. Install the master cylinder to the brake booster.
NOTICE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
4. Install the master cylinder nuts.
Tighten the master cylinder nuts to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.). Connect the brake pipes to the master cylinder, if previously removed.
Tighten the brake pipe tube nuts to the master cylinder to 24 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
5. Connect the electrical connector to the brake fluid level switch.
6. Refill the master cylinder reservoir.
7. If the brake pipes were removed, bleed the hydraulic brake system.
