C1261
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
This Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) identifies a malfunction within the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM).
CONDITIONS FOR SETTING THE DTC
^ Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C1256xx can be set when there is a solenoid short to battery inside the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV). If DTCs C1261 - C1274 are set along with C1256xx then pursue the solenoid DTCs first.
^ DTC C1256xx can be set when there is an internal Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM) malfunction.
ACTION TAKEN WHEN THE DTC SETS
A malfunction Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is stored, ABS/TCS/Active Handling (RPO JL4) are not disabled and the ABS and Car Icon (TCS indicator) are not turned on.
CONDITIONS FOR CLEARING THE DTC
^ Condition for Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) is no longer present and Scan tool clear DTC function is used.
^ Fifty ignition cycles have passed with no DTCs detected.
DIAGNOSTIC AIDS
^ When Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) C1256xx is displayed on the Scan tool, it will be followed by two more numbers which should be noted along with any other DTCs that may be displayed. The additional two numbers displayed with DTC C1256xx are for aiding engineering to determine the cause of the internal malfunction.
^ Make sure the integrity of the connection between the Electronic Brake and Traction Control Module (EBTCM) and the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) is secure, tight, and free from corrosion.
TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table.
3. Checks the resistance value of the solenoid.
4. Checks for a short to ground in the Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV).
7. Checks for an internal short to voltage.
