Tilt Spring - Assemble

ASSEMBLY PROCEDURE

- Tools Required
- J41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture

CAUTION: The tilt spring and the spring guide are under pressure and could become and projectile. Exercise caution when removing or installing the tilt spring and the spring guide, as bodily injury may result.





1. Lubricate the spring guide (1) with lithium grease.
2. Install the spring guide (1) into the tilt spring (2).
3. Insert the tilt spring into the steering column support assembly.

IMPORTANT: The tabs on the spring retainer must fit inside of the steering column support assembly.

4. Secure the tilt spring (2) with the spring retainer (3) by applying pressure to the spring retainer and turning counterclockwise.
5. Release the pressure on the spring retainer (3) once the tabs are locked in place.





6. Remove the steering column and J41352 from the vise.
