Procedures
CAUTION:^ Never drain or store fuel in an open container. Always use an approved fuel storage container in order to reduce the chance of fire or explosion.
^ Place a dry chemical (Class B) fire extinguisher near work area before attempting any On-Vehicle Service.
1. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Cautions and Notices.
2. Raise the vehicle and suitably support.
CAUTION: Do not leave the disconnected fuel return pipe unattended in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury that may result from a fuel leak.
3. Disconnect the fuel return pipe quick connect fitting.
4. Use a hand operated pump device to drain as much fuel through the fuel return pipe as possible.
5. Reconnect the fuel return pipe quick connect fitting.
