Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair

Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure


CAUTION: Refer to Vehicle Lifting Caution in Cautions and Notices.

1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the fuel pump electrical connector.
3. Lower the vehicle.
4. Start and run the engine until the fuel supply remaining in the fuel pipes is consumed. Engage the starter for 3.0 seconds in order to assure relief of any remaining pressure.
5. Raise the vehicle.
6. Connect the fuel pump electrical connector.
7. Lower the vehicle.
8. Disconnect the negative battery cable in order to avoid possible fuel discharge if an accidental attempt is made to start the engine.
