HVAC System - Manual

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

TOOLS REQUIRED
J 39500-B R-134a Refrigerant Recovery, Recycling and Recharging Station.

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system.
3. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
4. Disconnect the evaporator lines from the evaporator.
5. Disconnect the heater hoses at the heater core.
6. Remove the module attaching bolts.
7. Remove the following components:
^ The instrument panel
^ The instrument panel tie bar
8. Remove the floor air outlet.
9. Disconnect the wiring harness from the module.
10. Disconnect the electrical connections at the following locations:
^ The blower motor
^ The blower resistor
11. Remove the module from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the module in the vehicle.
2. Connect the electrical connections at the following locations:
^ The blower motor
^ The blower resistors
3. Connect the wiring harness to the module.
4. Install the floor air outlet.
5. Install the following components:
^ The instrument panel
^ The instrument panel tie bar

NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

6. Install the upper module attaching bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 3 N.m (37 lb in).

7. Install the lower module attaching bolts.

Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 3 N.m (37 lb in).

8. Connect the heater hoses at the following locations:
^ The heater core
^ The evaporator lines at the evaporator

Tighten
Tighten the fittings to 24 N.m (18 lb ft).

9. Evacuate and charge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
10. Fill the cooling system.
11. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
