Temperature Valve Replacement

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

CAUTION: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the instrument panel.
3. Remove the console.
4. Disconnect the floor heater duct connector.
5. Remove the heater outlet.
6. Remove the heater core cover.
The heater core cover mounting screw is located in a recess in the center of the cover.
7. Remove the heater valve lever link.
8. Remove the heater valve.
9. Drain the engine coolant.
10. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater core.
11. Remove the heater core.
12. Remove the heater core shroud.
The heater core shroud mounting screw is located at the middle of the front of the dash.
13. Remove the temperature cable from the temperature valve. Position the temperature control cable aside.
14. Unclip the link end of the temperature valve shaft.
15. Remove the temperature valve from the module. Complete the following steps:
15.1. Slide the valve to the right.
15.2. Pull down on the valve in order to remove the link end of the valve.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Install the temperature valve to the module. Complete the following steps:
1.1. Insert the link end of the valve into the module.
1.2. Push up on the valve into the module in order to seat the valve.
2. Clip the link end of the temperature valve shaft.

NOTE : Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the temperature cable to the temperature valve.
4. Install the heater core shroud.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1 N.m (9 lb in).

5. Install the following components:
^ The heater core
^ The straps

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1 N.m (9 lb in).

6. Install the heater valve.
7. Install the heater valve lever link.
8. Install the heater core cover.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1 N.m (9 lb in).

9. Install the heater outlet.

Tighten
Tighten the screws to 1 N.m (9 lb in).

10. Connect the floor heater duct connector.
11. Install the instrument panel.
12. Install the console.
13. Connect the negative battery cable.

Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
