Coolant Reservoir: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

Notice: When adding coolant, use DEX-COOL (R) coolant. If silicated coolant is added to the system, premature engine, heater core or radiator corrosion may result. In addition, the engine coolant will require change sooner-at 50,000 km (30,000 mi) or 24 months.

Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.





1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Drain the cooling system. Recover the coolant. Refer to Service and Repair.
3. Disconnect the low coolant connector.
4. Remove the radiator surge tank bolt and tank.
5. Disconnect the hoses.





6. Disconnect the low coolant switch connector from the surge tank.





7. Disconnect the coolant return hose.


INSTALLATION PROCEDURE





1. Install the low coolant switch to the tank.
2. Place the tank in the vehicle.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

3. Install the bolt.
^ Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
4. Connect the coolant return hose





5. Connect the coolant hoses to the radiator surge tank.





6. Connect the low coolant connector.
7. Fill the cooling system at the radiator surge tank. Refer to Service and Repair.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
9. Inspect for leaks.
