Generator Cooling Duct And Electrical Connections 3.4 Liter DOHC LQ1:

Generator And Generator Mounting Bracket 3.4 Liter DOHC LQ1:

CAUTION: Refer to "CAUTION".

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Battery negative cable from the battery negative terminal.
2. Ignition control module with mounting bracket and position forward for clearance.
3. Both front wheels.
4. Right engine splash shield.
5. Intermediate shaft lower pinch bolt and intermediate shaft from steering gear.
6. Raise vehicle and suitably support.
7. Oxygen sensor electrical connector from wiring harness.
8. Catalytic converter from exhaust rear.
9. Install a jacking fixture to support the rear of the frame.
10. Frame rear bolts.
11. Using the jacking fixture, lower the rear of the frame.

Important
^ Do not lower the frame more than 100 mm (4 in.).

12. Generator cooling duct.
13. Electrical connector at generator.
14. Generator "BAT" terminal nut and lead from generator.
15. Accessory drive belt from generator.
16. Generator rear brace.
17. Power steering gear pipe clip from generator stud.
18. Generator to engine stud.
19. Generator to generator mounting bracket bolt/screw.
20. Generator.

INSTALL OR CONNECT

Refer to Service Precautions.

1. Generator.
2. Generator to generator mounting bracket bolt/screw and generator to engine stud.
Tighten
^ Bolt/Screw to 50 N.m (37 lb. ft.).
^ Stud to 50 N.m (37 lb. ft.).
3. Generator rear brace.
4. Power steering gear pipe clip to generator stud.
5. Accessory drive belt to generator.
6. Generator "BAT" terminal lead and nut to generator.
Tighten
^ Nut to 20 N.m (15 lb. ft.).
7. Electrical connections to generator.
8. Generator cooling duct.
9. Using the jacking fixture, raise the frame rear until the frame contacts the vehicle body.
10. New frame rear bolts.
11. Catalytic converter to exhaust rear.
12. Oxygen sensor electrical connector to wiring harness.
13. Intermediate shaft to steering gear and, lower pinch bolt.
14. Right engine splash shield.
15. Both front wheels.
16. Lower the vehicle.
17. Ignition control module with mounting bracket.
18. Battery negative cable to the battery negative terminal.
