Ignition Cable: Service and Repair

CAUTION: Pull on spark plug boot or heat shield only, twisting a half turn to release seal while removing. Do not pull on the spark plug wire or it may be damaged.

Remove or Disconnect
1. Turn the ignition "OFF."
2. Upper intake manifold. Refer to Engine Mechanical.

NOTE: Note position of wires and wire looms before removing.

3. Spark plug wire(s) from spark plugs by twisting the boot 1/2 turn before removing.
4. Spark plug wire(s) from wire looms.
5. Spark plug wire(s) from coil(s).
6. Spark plug wire(s) from engine.

NOTE: If replacing the spark plug wires, transfer any of the following:

- Spark plug wire conduit.
- Spark plug wire retaining clips.

Install or Connect
1. Spark plug wire(s) to engine.
2. Spark plug wire(s) to coil(s).
3. Spark plug wire(s) to wire loom.
4. Spark plug wire(s) to spark plug(s).
5. Upper intake manifold. Refer to Engine Mechanical.
