Upper Intake Manifold Assembly Replacement

REMOVAL
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner duct. See Powertrain Management.
3. Drain the coolant. See Cooling System.
4. Disconnect the control cables at the throttle body of the upper intake. See Powertrain Management.
5. Remove the fuel rail cover. See Powertrain Management.
6. Remove the evaporator emission canister purge solenoid bracket bolts.
7. Remove the evaporator emission canister purge solenoid bracket.
8. Remove the evaporator emission canister purge solenoid. See Powertrain Management.
9. Disconnect the spark plug wires at the coils. See Powertrain Management.
10. Remove the ignition control module mounting bolts. See Powertrain Management.
11. Remove the ignition control module and the control module coils. See Powertrain Management.
12. Remove the ignition control module mounting bracket bolts.
13. Remove the control module mounting bracket.
14. Disconnect the vacuum hose at the manifold.
15. Remove the upper intake manifold bolts.
16. Remove the upper intake manifold.
17. Remove the upper intake manifold gasket.
18. Clean the gasket material from the mating surfaces.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the upper intake manifold gasket.
2. Install the upper intake manifold.
3. Install the upper intake manifold bolts. Tighten the bolts to 26 Nm (19 ft. lbs.).
4. Connect the vacuum hose at the upper intake manifold.
5. Install the ignition control module mounting bracket.
6. Install the ignition control module mounting bracket bolts. Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
7. Install the ignition control module and coils. See Powertrain Management.
8. Install the ignition control module and the coil mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the spark plug wires. See Powertrain Management.
10. Install the evaporator emission canister purge solenoid, harness and bracket. Tighten the bolts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
11. Install the fuel rail cover. See Powertrain Management.
12. Connect the control cables at the throttle body of the upper intake. See Powertrain Management.
13. Refill the coolant. See Cooling System.
14. Install the air cleaner duct. See Powertrain Management.
15. Connect the battery negative cable.
