Sunroof Motor to Module Timing

NOTICE: The sunroof motor has an internal microswitch which opens the motor circuit (turns motor off) when the window reaches the full vent position. If a technician removes the sunroof motor from the module and then functions the motor or changes the position of the sunroof window while the motor is removed from the module, the timing of the sunroof motor will be out of phase. Putting the motor back into the module while out of phase will cause the loss of the vent position. It is important that the technician use proper diagnostic procedures to avoid unnecessary bench testing of the motor or running the motor while the motor is hanging loose in the vehicle during sunroof diagnostics. If the motor and module become out of phase, retime the motor using the following procedure.

Remove or Disconnect

1. Sunroof motor with the jumper harness from the vehicle.

Adjust
^ Back-probing with an ohmmeter, connect meter leads between white and yellow wires located at the gear housing portion of the motor.
^ Insert a large flat-bladed tool into motor gear drive slot. Rotate the sunroof motor gear counterclockwise (turning flat-bladed tool clockwise) until the ohmmeter read OPEN CIRCUIT. This positions the gear drive to FULL VENT.

NOTICE: It may take up to eleven rotations to reach the OPEN CIRCUIT position.

^ Continue to turn the motor gear drive exactly 1 1/2 additional turns counterclockwise. This will retime the motor to the fully closed position. Make sure the sunroof window is in fully closed position.
