Transmission Case

^ Tools Required:
- J 36190 Drive Handle
- J 39435 Mainshaft and Countershaft Bearing Race Installer
- J 39439-4 Bushing Installer
- J 39439-3 Bushing Installer
- Or Equivalent





1. Install the 1ST/2ND and the 3RD/4TH shift shaft bushings. Use the J 36190, the J 39439-4, and the J 39439-3.





2. Install the mainshaft bearing race. Use the J 8092 and the J 39435.





3. Install the countershaft bearing race. Use the J 8092 and the J 39435.





4. Install the dowel pins.





5. Install the backup lamp switch.
- Tighten the switch to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).





6. Apply thread sealer to the oil fill plug threads. Use GM P/N 1052080 or the equivalent.





7. Install the oil fill plug.
- Tighten the oil fill plug to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).





8. Install the guide plate and the guide plate bolts
- Tighten the bolts to 22 Nm (16 ft. lbs.).
