Fuel Pressure Regulator: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the left fuel rail cover.
3. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Release Procedure.
4. Disconnect the fuel pressure regulator vent to atmosphere tube.
5. Clean any dirt from the fuel pressure regulator retaining ring.

Description:

6. Remove the fuel pressure regulator snap ring.
7. Remove the fuel pressure regulator from the fuel pressure regulator housing.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Lubricate the fuel pressure regulator large and small O-rings with clean engine oil.
2. Push the fuel pressure regulator into the regulator housing on the fuel rail.
3. Install a new fuel pressure regulator snap ring.
4. Connect the fuel pressure regulator vent to atmosphere tube.
5. Connect the negative battery cable.
6. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
7. Inspect for leaks.
7.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
7.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
7.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
7.4. Check for fuel leaks.
8. Install the left fuel rail cover.
