Left Side
REMOVAL^ Tools Required - J 34730-1A - Fuel Pressure Gauge, or equivalent.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Raise the vehicle and support.
3. Remove the LH intermediate pipe flange nuts from the exhaust manifold studs.
4. Remove the H02S.
5. Lower the vehicle.
6. Remove the LH fuel rail cover.
7. Depressurize the fuel system using a fuel pressure gauge.
8. Disconnect the fuel lines (3 and 4) from the fuel rail.
9. Remove the generator rear bracket and bolts.
10. Disconnect the generator and coolant temperature sensor electrical connectors.
11. Remove the accessory drive belt (5) from the generator pulley (6).
12. Remove the generator mounting bolts.
13. Remove the generator.
14. Remove the SAI hoses from the SAI pipe.
15. Remove the SAI pipe, bolts and gasket from the exhaust manifold and reposition.
16. Remove the spark plug wires from the coils and the spark plugs.
17. Remove the spark plugs from the cylinder head.
18. Remove the #5 coil bolts and reposition the coil.
19. Remove the exhaust manifold, bolts and gasket.
20. Discard the gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the exhaust manifold.
a. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a first pass to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center two bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, and work toward the outside bolts.
b. Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts a final pass to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.). Tighten the exhaust manifold bolts beginning with the center two bolts. Alternate from side-to-side, and work toward the outside bolts.
2. Install the spark plugs to the cylinder head.
3. Reposition the #5 coil and install the bolts. Tighten the coil mounting bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
4. Install the spark plug wires to the spark plugs and the coils.
5. Install the SAI pipe, bolts and gasket to the exhaust manifold. Tighten the AIR pipe bolts to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
6. Install the SAI hoses to the SAI pipe.
7. Install the generator.
8. Install the generator mounting bolts. Tighten the generator mounting bolts to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.).
9. Install the generator rear bracket and bolts. Tighten the rear bracket bolts to 50 Nm (37 lb. ft).
10. Install the accessory drive belt (5) to the generator pulley (6).
11. Connect the generator and coolant temperature sensor electrical connectors.
12. Connect the fuel lines (3 and 4) to the fuel rail.
13. Install the LH fuel rail cover to the engine.
14. Raise the vehicle and support.
15. Install the HO2S.
16. Install the LH intermediate pipe flange to the exhaust manifold studs.
17. Install the intermediate pipe flange nuts. Tighten the intermediate pipe flange nuts to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.).
18. Lower the vehicle.
19. Connect the negative battery cable. Tighten the negative battery bolt to 15 Nm (11 lb. ft).
