8. Intake Manifold, Vapor Vent Pipe and Engine Valley Cover
NOTE: The intake manifold, throttle body, fuel injection rail and fuel injectors may be removed as an assembly. If not servicing the individual components, remove the manifold as a complete assembly. DO NOT reuse the intake manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets.
INTAKE MANIFOLD
1. Remove the Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor (if required).
2. Remove the vapor vent pipe clamp and hose from the throttle body.
WARNING: The fuel rail stop bracket must be installed onto the intake manifold assembly. The stop bracket serves as a protective shield for the fuel rail in the event of a vehicle frontal crash. If the fuel rail stop bracket is not installed and the vehicle is Involved in a frontal crash, fuel could be sprayed possibly causing a fire and personal injury from burns.
3. Remove the intake manifold bolts and fuel rail stop bracket.
4. Remove the intake manifold and gaskets.
5. Remove the manifold-to-cylinder head gaskets from the intake manifold.
6. Discard the intake manifold gaskets.
VAPOR VENT PIPE
1. Disconnect the knock sensor wire harness retaining clips from the tube.
2. Remove the vapor vent pipe hose and clamp.
3. Remove the vapor vent pipe bolts.
4. Remove the vapor vent pipe and gaskets.
5. Remove the gaskets from the pipe.
6. Discard the vapor vent pipe gaskets.
ENGINE VALLEY COVER
1. Remove the knock sensor wire harness.
2. Remove the knock sensors.
3. Remove the valley cover bolts.
4. Remove the valley cover and gasket.
5. Discard the valley cover gasket.
