Abutment Plate

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the rear brake rotor.
2. Rotate the parking brake adjuster nut until the bolt is in the closed position.





3. Remove the parking brake shoe retaining spring.





4. Remove the parking brake shoe.
5. Remove the abutment plate mounting bolts. Two rearward hub mounting bolts.





6. Remove the abutment plate assembly from the dust shield.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Apply grease to positions 1 and 2. Do not apply grease to position 3.
2. Install the abutment plate to the dust shield.

CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement, or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and system.

3. Install the abutment plate mounting bolts. Two rearward hub mounting bolts.
- Tighten the abutment plate mounting bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.).
4. Install the parking brake shoe.
5. Install the parking brake shoe retaining spring.
6. Adjust the parking brake. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe / Adjustments.
7. Install the brake rotor.
