Parking Brake Lever: Service and Repair

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
3. Remove the passenger seat. Refer to Body and Frame.





4. Remove the park brake lever boot nuts.





5. Disconnect the parking brake electrical connector.
6. Disable the parking brake automatic adjuster. Service and Repair





7. Remove the parking brake lever bolts.
8. Reposition the park brake lever.





9. Disconnect the front parking brake cable from the drive sector and park brake lever assembly.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
1. Connect the front parking brake cable to the drive sector and park brake lever assembly.
2. Install the parking brake lever bolts.
- Tighten the parking brake lever bolts to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).

CAUTION: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement, or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and system.

3. Connect the parking brake electrical connector.
4. Enable the parking brake automatic adjuster.
5. Install the parking brake lever boot nuts.
- Tighten the park brake boot nuts to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
6. Install the passenger seat. Refer to Body and Frame.
7. Install the accessory trim plate.
8. Connect the negative battery cable.
- Tighten the negative battery cable bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
