Positive Battery Cable

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
CAUTION: Refer to "Service Precautions"
1. Battery.
2. Positive cable-to-junction block nut (6), and positive lead (27) from junction block positive terminal stud (14).
3. Positive cable-to-generator nut (18) and positive cable (1) from generator (21).
A. Move boot covering connection and slide out of way.
4. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
5. Open cable clip (16) by A/C compressor and remove positive cable (1).
6. Negative cable nut (19) securing positive cable (I) and harness clip (17) to engine stud.
7. Positive cable-to-starter nut (12) and positive cable (1) from starter solenoid switch.
8. Remove positive cable from conduit.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
NOTICE: Refer to "Service Precautions".
Before installing positive battery cable to starter solenoid switch, be sure solenoid terminal is secure in cap by tightening terminal nut next to cap. if terminal is not tight in solenoid cap, the cap may be damaged during installation of positive battery cable and cause starter to fail later.
1. Install positive cable to conduit.
2. Positive cable (1) and positive cable-to-starter nut (12) to starter solenoid switch.
Tighten
^ Positive battery cable-to-starter nut (12) to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).
3. Positive cable (1), harness clip (17) and negative cable nut (19) to engine stud.
Tighten
^ Negative battery cable nut (19) to 35 N.m (26 lb. ft.).
4. Positive cable (1) into cable clip (16) and close clip (16).
5. Lower vehicle.
6. Positive cable (1) and positive cable-to-generator nut (18) to generator (21).
Tighten
^ Positive battery cable-to-generator nut (18) to 22 N.m (16 lb. ft.).
^ Carefully slide boot over positive cable (1) and generator (21) connection.
7. Positive lead (27) and positive cable-to-junction block nut (6) to junction block positive terminal stud (14).
Tighten
^ Positive battery cable-to-junction block nut (6) to 6.0 N.m (53 lb. in.).
8. Battery.
