Ignition Coil: Service and Repair

Ignition Coil Assembly:






Numbers used below refer to image caption.

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Be sure ignition switch is in "OFF" or "LOCK" position.
2. Electrical connectors at ignition coil.
3. Engine wiring harness ground nut and ground terminals.
4. Ignition coil studs (5) and fuel canister purge tube retainer (7).
5. Ignition coil assembly (8).
^ Do not wipe silicone grease from bottom of ignition coil assembly (8) if it is to be reinstalled.

NOTICE: If a new ignition coil assembly is to be installed, a package of silicone grease will be included in the box. This grease is necessary for ignition coil assembly cooling.

INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. Ignition coil (8) to cylinder head..
2. Fuel canister purge tube retainer (7) and ignition coil studs (5).
Tighten
^ Ignition coil studs (5) to 40 Nm (30 lb. ft.).
3. Engine wiring harness ground terminals and ground nut.
Tighten
^ Engine wiring harness ground nut to 22 Nm (16 lb. ft.).
4. Electrical connectors at ignition coil.
