UNLESS OTHER WISE SPECIFIED, do not use supplemental coatings (paints, greases, or other corrosion inhibitors) on the threaded fasteners or fastener joint interfaces. Generally, such coatings adversely affect the fastener torque and the joint clamping force, and may damage the fastener.
