Power Steering Gear Inlet and Outlet Hoses









REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Place drain pan under steering gear (1) and pump.
2. Raise and suitably support vehicle.
3. Power steering gear inlet and outlet hoses (30 and 33) from steering gear(1).
4. Inlet hose (30) from pump (32).
5. Outlet hose (33) from reservoir (10).

INSTALL OR CONNECT

NOTICE: Do not start the vehicle with any power steering gear inlet or outlet hoses disconnected. When disconnected, cap or plug all openings of components. Failure to do so could result in contamination or loss of power steering fluid and damage to the system.

NOTICE: Inlet and outlet hoses must be installed to clear each other and all surrounding parts to prevent chafing. Use minimum clearance of 12 mm (0.47 inch). The outlet hose must not be twisted during installation. Do not bend or distort inlet and outlet hoses to make installation easier. Failure to follow these procedures could result in component damage.

1. Outlet hose (33) to reservoir (10). Lubricate with power steering fluid as required.
3. Inlet hose (30) to pump (32).
^ Tighten inlet hose (30) to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
4. Tighten:
^ Inlet and outlet hoses (30 and 33) to steering gear (1).
^ Inlet hose (2 or 30) to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
^ Outlet hose (5 or 33) to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
5. Outlet hose (33) to pump (32).
^ Tighten the outlet hose (33) to 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
6. Lower vehicle.
7. Refill and bleed power steering system. Refer to "Bleeding the Power Steering System".
