Left Side
REMOVAL1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Remove the EGR valve adapter from the exhaust manifold.
3. Remove the oil level indicator. Remove the oil level indicator tube. See Engine.
4. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts.
5. Remove the exhaust manifold heat shields.
6. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle suitably.
7. Remove the exhaust catalytic converter pipe.
8. Remove the oxygen sensor electrical connector.
9. Disconnect the spark plug wires from the spark plugs.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Remove the exhaust manifold bolts and studs.
12. Remove the exhaust manifold.
13. Remove the exhaust manifold gasket.
INSTALLATION
1. Install the exhaust manifold gasket.
2. Install the exhaust manifold.
3. Install the exhaust manifold studs. Tighten the studs to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
4. Install the exhaust manifold bolts. Tighten the bolts to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
5. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle suitably.
6. Install the oxygen electrical connector.
7. Install the exhaust catalytic converter pipe.
8. Connect the spark plug wires to the spark plugs.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Install the exhaust manifold heat shields.
11. Install the exhaust manifold heat shield nuts. Tighten the nuts to 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.).
12. Install the oil level indicator tube. See Engine.
13. Install the EGR valve adapter to the exhaust manifold.
14. Install the EGR valve adapter bolt. Tighten the bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
15. Inspect the EGR valve adapter tube for leaks. If leaks exist, replace the EGR valve adapter.
16. Connect the negative battery cable.
