Installation

1. Install the crankshaft front oil seal.
2. Install the engine front cover gasket.
3. Loosen the oil pan bolts, and drop the oil pan slightly in order to add clearance for the front cover.





4. Install the engine front cover.
5. Apply sealant GM P/N 12346004 or equivalent to the threads of the bolts and studs. The crankshaft sensor requires no adjustment.
6. Install the engine front cover bolts and studs. Tighten the bolts and studs to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.). Use the Torque Angle Meter in order to rotate the bolts and studs 40 degrees.
7. Install the water pump. See Cooling System.
8. Install the crankshaft sensor shield.
9. Install the electrical connections.
10. Raise and support the vehicle.
11. Install the oil pan to the front cover bolts. Tighten the bolts to 14 Nm (125 inch lbs.).
12. Install the crankshaft balancer.
13. Lower the vehicle.





14. Install the radiator inlet hose to the front cover.
15. Install the drive belt tensioner.
16. Install the air cleaner.
17. Install the air cleaner outlet rear duct.
18. Install the resonator duct.
19. Refill the engine coolant. See Cooling System.
