Thermostat: Service and Repair
REMOVE1. Open the radiator drain cock and drain the engine coolant from the radiator to below the level of the engine coolant thermostat.
2. Close the radiator drain cock. Tighten radiator drain cock to 1.5 Nm (13 inch lbs.).
3. EGR valve outlet pipe bolts/screws from upper intake and EGR valve adapter.
4. EGR valve outlet pipe.
5. Loosen hose clamp and remove inlet hose from water outlet (11).
6. Water outlet bolts/screws (12).
7. Water outlet (11).
8. Water outlet gasket (16).
9. Engine coolant thermostat (13). Clean gasket surfaces of water outlet and upper intake manifold.
INSTALL
1. Engine coolant thermostat (13) into upper intake manifold.
2. New water outlet gasket (16).
3. Water outlet (11).
4. Water outlet bolts/screws (12). Tighten water outlet bolts/screws (12) to 27 Nm (20 ft. lbs.).
5. Inlet hose to water outlet (11) and tighten hose clamp.
6. EGR valve outlet pipe.
7. EGR valve outlet pipe bolt/screw to upper intake and EGR valve adapter.
8. Add engine coolant, if required. Tighten
^ EGR valve outlet pipe bolt/screw to upper intake to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
^ EGR valve outlet pipe nut to EGR valve adapter to 29 Nm (21 ft. lbs.).
9. Inspect for leaks, after running engine to normal operating temperature.
