Defect/Vehicles Involved
General Motors has decided that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in certain 1996 Chevrolet Lumina and Monte Carlo model vehicles. These vehicles may have been assembled with one of the four (4) brake booster tabs not properly located in the front of dash reinforcement assembly. If this condition were present in a situation where stopping distances were minimal, a vehicle crash could potentially occur, without prior warning. To prevent the possibility of this condition occurring, dealers are to inspect for proper booster installation. Boosters found to be improperly located will be removed and reinstalled properly
Involved are certain 1996 Chevrolet Lumina and Monte Carlo model vehicles built within the VIN breakpoints as shown.
