Owner Letter
Dear Chevrolet Customer:This notice is sent to inform you that Chevrolet Motor Division is conducting a recall campaign that includes your vehicle.
REASON FOR THIS RECALL
General Motors has decided that certain 1996 Chevrolet Lumina/Monte Carlo model vehicles were produced with incorrect certification labels. The vehicle certification label, located on the left-front (driver's) door of these vehicles, was incorrectly identified as "NON SALEABLE"
WHAT WE WILL DO
To correct this condition, it will be necessary to install a new certification label to each affected vehicle. Since a new certification label can be easily installed and to reduce your inconvenience, we are enclosing a new certification label with installation instructions. You may install the new label yourself, or, if you desire, your Chevrolet dealer will install the label for you at no charge.
WHAT YOU SHOULD DO
Please let us know if you elect to install the label yourself by completing the enclosed postage paid owner reply card and returning it to us. This will assist us in assuring that all affected vehicles have been corrected. If you have sold or traded your vehicle, please let us know by completing the postage paid reply card and returning it to us.
Should you choose to have your local Chevrolet Dealer install the label for you, please bring the owner reply card along with the enclosed label, to your servicing Chevrolet Dealer. Please contact your dealer to arrange a service date as soon as possible. You may ask your dealer if you wish to know how much time will be needed to schedule and process your vehicle.
We are sorry to cause you this inconvenience; however, we have taken this action in the interest of your continued satisfaction with our products.
