Troubleshooting Hints
PERFORM BEFORE BEGINNING SYSTEM DIAGNOSIS^ If scan tool displays "Pin D Always Low" for approximately 3 seconds, then starts displaying a rapidly changing Duty cycle of approximately 25 to 80 %. Check for an open in CKT 1294 or a poor connection at terminal "B" of the Power Steering Control Module Connector. To verify this condition, cycle the Ignition "OFF" then "ON" with the Signal Generator connected at set to 60 Hz. Refer to System Check for connection of Signal Generator.
^ A short to B+ on CKT 1294 will not drive the actuator pintle out to cause a decrease in assist. The fault is detected by the Power Steering Control Module which enables CKT 1294, and the scan tool will read "No Duty Cycle Present."
^ Resistance of the Steering Wheel Speed Sensor from terminal "A" to terminal "C" should be between 8 K ohms and 15 K ohms, from terminal "A" to terminal "B" should be 500 ohms to 16 K ohms and from terminal "B to terminal "C" should be 500 ohms to 16 K ohms. If not, replace the Steering Wheel Speed Sensor.
^ Refer to System Diagnosis.
