On models except ZR-1, a magnesium clutch housing may be used. On these models aluminum spacer plates will be installed between clutch housing and engine and clutch housing and transmission. It may be necessary to remove the catalytic converter and its support bracket to facilitate transmission removal.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove shift lever.
3. Remove complete exhaust system.
4. Remove front cross over hanger from transmission.
5. Remove propeller shaft.
6. Support transmission with a suitable jack, then remove driveline support beam.
7. Disconnect electrical connectors.
8. Remove transmission to clutch housing attaching bolts, then the transmission from vehicle.
9. Reverse procedure to install. When installing driveline support, apply sealer at locations shown in Fig. 3.
