Ignition Switch

WARNING:

The ignition switch is mounted on top of the mast jacket inside the brake pedal support and is actuated by a rod and rack assembly.

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove steering column from vehicle. Refer to Steering Column. Service and Repair
3. Remove hex nut and washer head screw.
4. Remove horn pad ground wiring assembly from dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud. Remove wiring assembly from slot D of turn signal switch connector body, if necessary.
5. Remove cable bracket, then the dimmer switch from actuator rod.
6. Remove dimmer and ignition switch mounting stud.
7. Remove ignition switch assembly from switch actuator assembly, then disconnect wiring harness from switch assembly.
8. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Place lock cylinder and switch in OFF-LOCKED position, Fig. 14. A new ignition switch will be pinned in OFF-LOCKED position. Remove plastic pin after switch is assembled to column.
b. Install and adjust dimmer switch. Refer to Lighting and Horns / Dimmer Switch. Service and Repair
