Fuel Pressure Regulator Replacement
Removal Procedure
Important: Service the fuel pressure regulator as a complete assembly only.
Notice: Numbers in text correspond to numbered components in image.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to the Fuel Pressure Release.
3. Remove the left fuel rail cover.
4. Disconnect the vacuum line from the pressure regulator.
5. Remove the inlet/outlet fuel tube retainer and the attaching screw.
6. Remove the fuel outlet tube retainer clip (4).
7. Remove the fuel outlet tube (4) from the pressure regulator (7).
8. Remove the pressure regulator attaching screw (6) and the pressure regulator (7).
9. Remove the pressure regulator inlet O-ring (9). Discard the pressure regulator inlet O-ring.
10. Remove the fuel outlet tube O-ring (5). Discard the fuel outlet tube O-ring.
11. Inspect the filter screen (8) for contamination. Remove the filter screen with a small pick and discard the filter screen if it is dirty.
Installation Procedure
1. Lubricate the new pressure regulator inlet O-ring (9) with clean engine oil.
2. Install the pressure regulator inlet O-ring (9) on the pressure regulator (7).
3. Lubricate the new fuel outlet tube O-ring (5) with clean engine oil.
4. Install the fuel outlet tube O-ring (5) on the fuel outlet tube (3).
5. Push the pressure regulator (7) into the fuel rail.
6. Apply Loctite 262 to the pressure regulator attaching screw (6) if necessary.
7. Install the pressure regulator attaching screw (6). Tighten the pressure regulator attaching screw to 10 Nm (89 lb in).
8. Install the fuel outlet tube (3) into the pressure regulator (7).
9. Install the fuel outlet tube retainer clip (4).
10. Install the inlet/outlet fuel tube retainer and the attaching screw. Tighten the inlet/outlet fuel tube retainer attaching screw to 5 Nm (44 lb in).
11. Connect the vacuum line to the pressure regulator.
12. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
13. Connect the negative battery cable.
14. Inspect for leaks.
14.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
14.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 10 seconds.
14.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
14.4. Check for fuel leaks.
15. Install the left fuel rail cover.
