Intermittant DTC P0107, Map Sensor Low Voltage
File In Section: 6E - Engine Fuel & EmissionBulletin No.: 67-65-28
Date: December, 1996
Subject:
Intermittent Diagnostic Trouble Code P0107 Map Sensor Circuit Low Voltage (PCM Flash Calibration)
Models:
1996 Chevrolet Cavalier
1996 Pontiac Sunfire
with 2.4L Engine (VIN T - RPO LD9) and 4T40-E Automatic Transmission (RPO MN4)
Condition
Some owners of the above listed vehicles may have a repeated concern with an intermittent MIL lamp accompanied by no specific driveability concerns. This condition may occur more frequently in areas that are mountainous or at high altitude. The owners concern will be accompanied by a stored DTC P0107 MAP Sensor Circuit Voltage Low.
Cause
The calibration originally installed in these vehicles is sensitive to long periods of closed throttle (0% TPS) at speeds between 38 and 42 MPH (61-68 km/h). This condition usually occurs when using the engine to slow the vehicle on long downhill grades with the selector in Drive (D) or Third (3).
Correction
A new calibration has been developed to correct this condition, this new calibration should only be installed if the owner states a concern with the above noted conditions. Perform the PCM flash calibration procedure using the number 23 CD-ROM update or a later version. Correct calibration information is listed in the chart below.
