Evaporative Emission Control Canister: Service and Repair

Evap Canister And Vent Valve:

REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Remove the RH engine splash shield.
2. Disconnect the hoses from the EVAP canister (2).
3. Disconnect the EVAP canister retainer attaching bolt (1).
4. Remove the EVAP canister (2) and the retainer.
5. Remove the EVAP canister retainer from the EVAP canister (2).

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
When installing the EVAP retainer to the EVAP canister, the attaching bolt must be towards the front of the vehicle and the hose ports must be towards the rear of the vehicle.

1. Snap the EVAP canister retainer onto the EVAP canister (2).
2. Install the rearward end of the EVAP canister retainer into the slot in the PCM bracket (rotate the EVAP canister to insert the top of the EVAP canister under the tab on the PCM bracket).
3. Install the EVAP canister retainer attaching bolt (1).

Tighten
Bolt to 8-12 Nm (6-9 lb. ft.).

4. Connect the hoses to the canister.
