Intermittent DTC 44 (Install New EPROM)

Models:
1994 Chevrolet Beretta, Cavalier, Corsica with 2.2L Engine (VIN 4 - RPO LN2) and Manual Transmission

Condition

Some vehicles may exhibit an intermittent DTC 44 and an illuminated Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) when driven at a steady speed or on the highway immediately after a cold start.

Cause

The calibration may cause a lean signal from the oxygen sensor causing a DTC 44 to be set under the above conditions.

Correction

Install a new EPROM to correct the condition from the chart below.
