Air Injection Hose/Tube: Service and Repair

AIR Hoses & Pump:

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Loosen the AIR clamps.
2. Remove the AIR hoses (1) to the check valves (both sides)
3. Loosen the AIR clamp at the AIR pump outlet (5).
4. Remove the outlet hose (5) at the AIR pump (3).
5. Raise the vehicle.
6. Remove the fasteners to the AIR cross under pipe (2) bracket, both sides.
7. Cut the cross under pipe near center of the oil pan to aid in removal.
8. Remove the cross under pipe.

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

IMPORTANT: The new cross under pipe must be cut similarly to the old pipe before installation.

1. Install the cross under pipe.
2. Use the appropriate length of 5/8-inch heater hose to join both halves of the cross under pipe. Clamp both ends of the hose securely with stainless steel clamps.
3. Install the fasteners to the AIR cross under pipe (2) bracket, both sides.
4. Lower the vehicle.
5. Install the outlet hose (5) at the AIR pump (3).
6. Tighten the AIR clamp at the AIR pump outlet hose (5).
7. Install the AIR hoses (1) to the check valves (both sides)
8. Tighten the AIR clamp at the check valves and AIR pipes.
9. Check the AIR system for proper operation and for leaks.
