Water Pump: Service and Repair

Remove or Disconnect
1. Air cleaner assembly.
2. Negative battery cable.
3. Coolant recovery tank.
4. Drain coolant, partially.
5. Serpentine belt.
6. Pulley.
7. Bolts from coolant pump.
8. Coolant pump.
Clean
^ Coolant pump mating surfaces.

Install or Connect
1. Gasket and coolant pump.
2. Bolts to coolant pump.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb. in.).

3. Coolant pump pulley and LOOSELY install attaching bolts.
4. Serpentine belt.
5. Torque coolant pump pulley bolts to specifications.
Tighten
^ Bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb. ft.).

6. Coolant recovery reservoir.
7. Refill coolant.
8. Negative battery cable.
Tighten
^ Bolt to 15 N.m (11 lb. ft.).

9. Air cleaner assembly.
Inspect
^ For leaks.
